3 Twentynine Palms Marines killed in Iraq

Three Marines based in Twentynine Palms but serving in Iraq died this week, the Pentagon reported.

Cpl. Andrew D. Brownfield, 24, of Summit, Ohio, died Thursday from wounds received in an enemy mortar attack at Al Asad Air Base.

Brownfield was assigned to Marine Wing Support Squadron 374, Marine Wing Support Group 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force.

Pfc. Brandon C. Smith, of Washington, Ark., and Pfc. Ricky A. Morris Jr., of Lubbock, Texas, both 20, died Thursday as a result of enemy action in Al Qaim.

The two men were both assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.
