Two U.S. Marines Killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Insurgents killed two U.S. Marines who were on patrol in Iraq, a U.S. military statement said Friday.
The attack on the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force occurred Wednesday in al-Anbar province, which stretches from west of Baghdad to the Jordanian border, the statement said. It provided no other details.

The deaths brought to 569 the number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq since the start of hostilities last year, according to Defense Department figures.

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Insurgents killed two Marines who were on patrol in Iraq, a military statement said Friday. The attack on the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force occurred Wednesday in at Qaim, Iraq, in al-Anbar province, which stretches from west of Baghdad to the Jordanian border, the statement said. It provided no other details.
The Marines have been identified as Pfc. Brandon C. Smith, 20, of Washington, Ark., and Pfc. Ricky A. Morris Jr., 20, of Lubbock, Texas. Both were assigned to 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
