Can anyone tell me if the Marines were the first ones in Baghdad and where I can find information to prove it. Me and my wife are alwayse arguing because she it from a Army family and says she saw some special on the History Channel yesterday that said the Army was there first and the Marines didn't know what they were doing. I didn't see the show, but I dont think she knows what shes talking about. Can someone please help me to win this argument? Thanks!

Now we might ask, what size unit?
The Marines were first to cross the border from Kuwait into Iraq.
The link above says 2nd Bn 5th Marines were advancing rapidly toward Baghdad, they only stopped when they were hit by a desert storm, with high winds and sand, limiting visability.
I remember something being said about Special Forces being in Baghdad.
That might be what they are reffering to, but those would be very small units.
That why I ask; What size units are we talking about...
The 3rd Army Division was slowed due to not having enough fuel.
So their advance was limited in nature...
Hope you win the arguement...
