A 20-year-old Marine from Iwakuni Marine Corps Air Station will serve 14 months in a Japanese prison if he violates Japanese law again within the next three years.
In Iwakuni’s Yamaguchi Prefecture District Court on Friday, Pfc. Lester E. Son received a conditional 14-month prison term and three-year suspended sentence following his guilty pleas on Feb. 20 to charges of unlawful entry and theft, according to Maj. George Cadwalader, the Marine base’s deputy staff judge advocate, who attended the sentencing.
Iwakuni Police Department officers arrested Son, a New York native attached to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, after he broke into the residence of a 52-year-old female restaurant owner at 4-chome, Marifu-cho, Iwakuni-shi, on Jan. 13 at about 1:50 a.m.
