I am in the DEP program (0311 MOS) for the Marine Corps reserves. I am signed up under the 6x2 contract and leave for boot camp May 24th. I have asked my recruiter a few different times and have gotton different responses each time. How much money will I be getting for college through the reserves? Do they give you the money monthly or each semester or how does it work? Also, does anyone have any info on the New York Naval Militia? Thanks.

You don't get any money until you complete all your training -- Recruit Training, MCT/SOI. Then based on the number of credits you are enrolled, the money works in different amounts. Do a search online for the Montgomery GI Bill if your recruiter can't get yuo the info. THe money is constantly changing, so check to see what the current edition entitles you to.

The fastest way to find out how much money will recieve is to contact your local VA office, if they don't know they can find out for you.

There is the GI Bill scale. Add what you will be paid to this amount, and you have how much you will be given for college. It is impossible to say for sure what it will be, because nobody knows when you will get promoted and the GI Bill tends to go up every fiscal year.
