Flag ..Stars forward

INFANTRY SCHOOL MOTO.... "Follow Me" The flag is always forward in motion. Even those Marines in Korea caught around the Frozen Chosen faught their way forward out of trouble. While a Color Guard in the battle formations of today are not practical the traditions remain.

Much like the concept of the Civil War battle management of closing ranks on the colors as those close to the colors were struck down. I can assure you that almost any Battalion or Higher Commander in a combat zone has had a discussion with his CSM about protecting the colors and not under any circumstances permit them to be some trophy on a goat herders wall.

Capturing the Colors of a Regiment during the Wars of the 18th and 19th Century often lead to a promotion as it did in the time of the Roman Legion when a standard was captured.

It is a little thing of keeping the Stars moving forward but then tradition and honor of those who died to maintain that tradiiton is paramount.
