If your in delayed entry and about to go to boot camp check out this webpage.
It contains letters from a recruit in boot camp in 1997 from the the first night to graduation.
It might let you know what to expect.
I read these letters and it brought back a lot of boot camp memories. The only difference is that I went to MCRD san Diego and not Parris Island.
These letter should help a lot, I think I'll start practicing some of the things he mentions. Sitting cross-legged is going to be a -----.
One part got my attention. He said he kept all his letters. We had to read them and then ****can them.

Sgt., I went to PI and graduated on Aug. 15th, 2003, and we were allowed to keep all of our letters as well. I have not as yet read those posted.
Booyah - nobody is scared before they go...it's when your sleep deprived and have a DI yelling in your face, thats when your scared.

Yeah I know what you mean Sir, right now sitting at home when everyone asks if were scared or nervous of course all of us will say no but its when we get on those yellow foot prints and realize "oh sh!t were owned" is when we will all feel a little fear....
dep_baumy,
When I got on the yellow foot prints i was like "What in the hell did I get my self into. I was a little stressed.

Maybe scared isn't a good word. how about elevated sense of stress coupled with an overwhelming feeling of "oh crap."

Thank you very much for the link, I found it very helpful, and a nice preview of the things to come.

I think the first time that feeling hit home was when our bus pulled up to receiving. The driver got off and went inside, and out came the first drill instructor I had ever seen in his natural habitat. At that point, I was told to get on the yellow footprints, and the rest of the night was a blur.
