Testimony began Tuesday in the court-martial of a Marine charged with rape and indecent assault on a 19-year-old woman Marine. The testimony revealed that a second Marine also has been charged in connection with the July 3, 2003 incident.
In his opening statement, trial counsel Capt. Robert G. Palmer said the testimony "may reveal an offense influenced by excessive use of alcohol."
The victim, a lance corporal, was allegedly invited by a woman she met in boot camp to a party in the barracks room of Marine Pfc. Armando O. Jordan, 23, a hygiene equipment operator with Marine Wing Support Squadron 274. According to testimony Tuesday, while the Marines, two men and two women, and two civilian women drank shots of rum and cognac over the course of a few hours, the lance corporal allegedly flirted with Jordan and Pfc.
