My youngest son brought me two books about the Marine Corps
One being Silent Warrior, The Marine Sniper's Story Continues.
The book I have a question is the one below

The name of the book is A Marine Story Not Going Home Alone
By 1st Lt. James J. Kirschke.
When he is describing Camp Maragrita in 1965.
He states that there was quonset huts.
If you were never there, you could take it being true.
But having being a member of Charlie 1st Battalion 5th Marines,
In 1959, I know for fact, that were one story barracks.
He was a member of 3rd Battalion 5th Marines.
Where they housed in quonset huts?
The statement about quonset huts almost turn me off on this book.
But I'll struggle through...

I lived in Camp Margarita for 4 yrs. All I know is that there are barracks and open squadbays, but this was 99-2002. I wonder if we could verify the Quonset huts.

From What I have found online through search engines is that the he is refering to the squadbays at Camp Margarita as quonset huts. So I think your right when you said that "If you were never there, you could take it to be true." Thats my opinion.

I was in the 1st Marines at San Mateo in 59-60. We had those one story barracks and thought they were the cutting edge.
Check out the pic of our abode at Camp Bishagawa on Okinawa.
We were all dressed up for Christmas dinner. It was so crude we had to use our field mess gear and had a six-seater head, flies and all.

Note the old Raiders utility cover on old Mitch. Salty, eh?

magarita had 1 story barracks in use during the spring of '70.

didn't pay much attention to what the entire area was using, wouldn't swear there weren't any quonset huts then.
