**************** is very sorry to relay the sad news that your Brother, Merrell, Louis Raymond (Marine Raider - Ray), Sgt has passed away. The following is the information that we received:
It is with heavy heart that I inform our brothers and sisters of the passing of Ray Merrell. I received a call from Ray's son that he passed last night in his sleep. He did not suffer and he was surrounded by family. God Bless Ray's family in their time of need.
I met Ray online when I was trying to find a copy of the book he wrote, "My Three Years in the Marine Corps." He ended up emailing me. I received an autographed copy of his book and talked with him often online. He was a very nice guy and an outstanding WWII Marine Raider. I will miss him.
