Are we allowed to wear retainers in boot camp? I don't know if my teeth will stay straight for 3 months without one.
I'm not real sure if they will let you wear a retainer or not. Ask you recruiter he may know.. He maybe will even tell you to take a stash of Playboys.. Dont trust him HAHA.. Good Luck

Don't worry about your crooked teeth, that what the Navy dentist are there for, after all they need the training, if they are crooked you can be sure when you leave they will be straight, they took care of mind, they PULLED THEM. LOL

heh heh. Geez, you're a funny one usmc4669....
NO! I can't let my teeth get crooked again! When they tell me to show them my war face I'll be able to smile and scare them all poopless.
You will have a dental exam in boot. At that time, a Navy Doc will tell you what you need and will make a retainer if you need one.

At boot camp none of the recruits in my platoon were allowed to wear them during the day. I think it is okay to wear it while you sleep. The SDI had a fear that a recruit might swallow the retainer. I'd bring it with, the worst they can do is tell you not to wear it. Good Luck

Take gum with me!? What would that do? We're not allowed to have gum. Are you trying to get me in trouble??? *glare*
I only have to wear mine once a week at night. Sounds good.

You cannot ship to training with braces or retainers on your teeth. You will be given an initial dental exam in receiving (first few days at MCRD). You will go back during training for fillings, extractions or other REQUIRED dental work.

They won't even touch your teeth....except to clean or pull them unless you're in one spot for 3 years.........
I had four root canals (?) while I was at Boot-Camp. It was great, extra rack ops for me!

I was going to ask a similiar question for you marines. I asked my recruiter if i could get braces and have them while im down in boot camp, he said that i could not, but after boot camp he said I would be allowed to, is this true? When would i be able to get my braces?????

I don't remember how I got away with keeping my retainer through processing, but I did. I did however, ONLY wear it at night. Otherwise, I know d!&m well I would have choked on the thing during training.
