To one and all.
I'm going to send a package this weekend to my Marine son. It is his birthday in early March. I figure that he will get his parcel about the time his birthday arrives.
Everything that I have sent I've always encouraged my son to share. (I'm sure that he shares anyway):) Keeping this thought in mind..
I thought that now would be a good time to send some nice words of incouragement and thanks....or just hello to all members of his mortar platoon.
If you have any words that you would like me to pass on this weekend to my son, which can be passed along to his Platoon...sound off! I'll down load all of your comments, copy them and forward them to "over there". I will notify you all when my parcel leaves for the FPO address.
Thank you all in advance.

... and be first.

To the 'Battalion Commanders Own', one and all

You do not always see the effects of your fire missions, but the results reach all of the way back home. The news we read resounds with the triumphs of the MARINE CORPS, and that means the missions are accomplished.

We read that the civillians 'respect' the Marines, as proof of your reputations. I personally believe that they respect the TRUE WARRIOR. Not the conqueror, but the man that battles his enemy, but not the country itself. As you show THEM respect, concern, and human deciencey, they will return it.

I personally never had to fire a round in combat, because those that served before me did. You are serving today, Honorably, so that those after you may not have to fire either.

Thank you !! :marine:

Gary, I'm sitting here, trying to find words of appreciation and words of encouragement.

We appreciate the job that are doing in behalf of the Nation.
It's our hope that time will fly-by and we pray for their safe keeping.
They are the true professionals because of their MOS, firing in support of the battalion that are part of.
The training that they recieved should see them through this deployment.
We pray that Marines in heaven will lok over them till they return home.

Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed, and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear. Protect my family. Give me the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership. Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.

If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark; give me courage to try again.

Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer. AMEN

I'm an old 81 FO and you have to understand our sense of humor.
Having said that, they might be interested in Rule No. 79:
79. The mortar team will always have the correct number of safety pins to prove they armed all the rounds.
To ensure this, the mortar team carries extra pins.
