I have an uncle who came out of the Marines to become a police officer with the help of his military background. I myself like the aspect of becoming a fireman after your tenure, although I wouldn't mind law enforcement as well. Do the Marines have any type of occupation to prepare for a job in firefighting? I've searched and I believe the Army and Air force has firefighters, but in my eyes, the Army or any other branch isn't as respectable as becoming a Marine...Thanks in advance.
-soon to be future Marine!

You might want to check into Marine Air Wing offerings. They should have an MOS for firefighters, since they have to maintain response teams for aircraft emergencies and hazardous materials handling. For that matter, all major bases would also have firefighting units in the event of a disaster or catastrophe. Whether you would be re-billeted as a firefighter would be another subject altogether.
If you were assigned to an emergency response or hazmat unit, the Corps would have to train you to perform your designated function. Once in training, you could inquire about permanent change of MOS, and advancement opportunities in that field. You can discuss this with your recruiter.
Good luck, future Marine, and persevere.

Crash/Fire/Rescue people are firefighters, and dang fine people. Do a Google search for them, and you will find a wealth of information. Something well worth looking into if you want to be a firefighter in the future.

MOS
5803 Military Police Officer
5804 Corrections Officer
7051 Aircraft Firefighting & Rescue
I believe all Base firefighting and rescue operations outside the flightline are handled by civilian contractors - at least they were at Pendleton & Lejeune.

My dad's a retired fire captain. I think he worked with mail in the Corps. If you wanna be a firefighter you gotta do it on your own time.
