CAMP PENDLETON ----- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to be among the officials to participate in a ceremony granting U.S. citizenship to more than 250 non-naturalized Marines and sailors today at Camp Pendleton.

The Marines and sailors, all from bases within California, will be officially naturalized at 9 a.m. today at the South Mesa Club near Oceanside.

Non-naturalized residents in the country can serve in the military without becoming U.S. citizens.


"These Marines and sailors have demonstrated through honorable and faithful service the right to become United States citizens," Marine Corps officials said in a statement.
