Marines!! I have been following this story about a recruit's suicide. There's all this talk about 3rd Bn. RTR PI and how tough it is. Okay, are DIs assigned to a specific company and bn for their whole tours or do they rotate from bn. to bn.?

Used to be they stayed in the same battalion. But now they rotate (so different leadership can handle them). They also rotate between receiving, Special Training Company (physical conditioning platoon, separation platoon, medical rehab platoon), etc. This is to give them a break from pushing recruits. Sometimes, they'll complete 3 training cycles, and then rotate into a non training cycle. All of this is subject to change now with the on-going investigations at PI. Everything is being looked at under a microscope with major changes pending I'm sure. Of course, the first open transgenders will hit the yellow footprints next summer! That in itself will require a major culture change!!

Good luck Devil.

Thanks Top! I remember seeing the DI from receiving at 3rd Bn. towards the end of Boot Camp.

Back in my day when I was training recruits the 3rd Bn. was known as the 3rd HERD.

They were still the Third Herd when I was a boot in '84 - we 1st Bn recruits thought we had it easy being right there on display, where visitors could see us and all. Did we? Eh, dunno.

FYI. 3rd Herd PI Marines. The old 3rd Herd barracks was demolished, and a new one constructed. Anyone interested can purchase a brick for $40.00 each from the demolished building by calling the PI Museum giftshop at (843) 228:2166.

This is the new barracks at PI:http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff166/rvanclea/USMC/4ddf3936-f001-4c90-a7c9-36b4570cd0ea.jpg (http://s238.photobucket.com/user/rvanclea/media/USMC/4ddf3936-f001-4c90-a7c9-36b4570cd0ea.jpg.html)
