Marines!
Is anyone heard this- 3rd Bn. MCRDPI is supposedly tougher than the other battalions? I've heard this from a couple of people and have no proof. I'm not sure that I really believe it, but I was in Third Bn.
Semper Fi,
Eric

They are all one and the same..

The Rules and Regulations @ MCRD must be followed as directed...

Yes, it is true. 3rd Bn at PI is the toughest in the Marine Corps. Please do not look down on your other brothers though as they mean well.

Don't know if it's true or not. But, that is the reputation 3rd Herd has at PI. I am currently on a Parris Island Support Page and it does come up occasionally. There are people (some are DI's) who believe it - for whatever reason. Not sure if it can ever be proved either way.

As far as the 3d Herd, it is the same as the 1st and 2d Bn and is trained under the same Training Schedule, same chow, same sick bay, same Special Training Branch.

The only thing that is different is each Platoon and Battalion have different Drill Instructors. All of these Drill Instructors answer to the same SOP for Recruit Training, or they get relieved. It is a simple system and has worked for a whole lot of years. A Drill Instructor lives by this SOP or is not a Drill Instructor very long.

I agree Old Marine, during my time at PI we had a total of 3 of our 5 DI's relieved, 2 of them for punching a prive in another platoon, the other for going totally berserk on the parade field where some officers saw him. Now that was frowned upon even in the 3rd Bn.

I don't know if it was any tougher than 2nd. Battalion that I was in, but if I was, I know that I wouldn't have wanted to be there.

My son was in 3rd. Battalion, and we still argue which was the toughest. I have to agree with Old Marine however. IMO they are about equal. However, I did see recruits from the 3rd., holding hands and skipping rope when we were on a run one day.
