Well, I'm meeting my recruiter at 2:30pm today to get put up in a hotel overnight, and then I'm shipping tomorrow (there's a big snowstorm coming, so they want everyone in a central place or something like that). Wish me luck, and I'll see you all in a few months. With a little luck and a lot of sweat and maybe a bit of blood, I'll be able to call myself a Marine then.
I'd like to thank everyone here who offered up support, wisdom, and advice. I know it's made me a better poolee, and will make me a better recruit tomorrow. Thanks, and I'll see you in a few months!

START OF A NEW LIFE.........
No matter what goes down in boot camp, always remember your goal is to become a United States Marine. If you have what it takes you will succeed. It has to be in your heart and soul to become a Marine. Good Luck, and I hope that I will be able to one day Welcome you into the Brother/SisterHood...............

Well, that sucked, but I made it. I got my Eagle, Globe, and Anchor yesterday and graduated today. The DI who was one of the two hardest in my platoon gave it to me and told me I had earned it; I felt good about that. Next is MCT in a few days, and then on to 29 Palms for 7 and a half months. Ooo rah!
PS- does anyone know how to change a login name here, or do I have to create a new account?

Welcome Aboard, young Marine!
Congratulations on graduation and earning the Title. Take good care of IT.
Regarding your new status, you may have to go and re-register with a new handle, and your new Avatar. You're no Poolee now. One person who might have an alternative would be Shaffer, who seems to be the webmaster for this website. You could drop him a PM, and find out if you can change things without starting all over again.
Good Luck, younger brother.

Semper Fi and welcome to the family. Remember a couple of things. In order to be a good leader, you must first be a good follower. In order to be a leader, you lead from the front and not the back. Be an aggresive leader, and show everyone why they should follow you as you lead them. When you get to your first unit, learn about it, and learn the military way of life and how it works, once you do that, then you take alot more gigantic steps to meeting your goals. Remember, set small goals, then bigger ones as you complete the smaller goals. Do not be afraid to ask questions, and do not turn your back on a challenge. Failure will only make you stronger and better for your next challenge, and will build tact. Remember those that are above you did not get there over night, and they earned it, so respect it.
