My best buddy in the Corps, PFC Ray Parks, was on the Silent Drill Team in '56-57. We served together in W29 in Japan and Okinawa. We were on 81 mortar FO teams, quite a departure from the spiff and...

Pick up a copy of "Leatherneck" magazine at a newsstand. There are advertisements in the back for videos of all sorts. The Silent Drill Team is one I've seen offered. The Sunset Parade is another.
Have you tried the "e-Marine PX" banner at the top of this page? They may have links to an outlet.

For the IG Inspection we formed a drill platoon. A Master Guns was our boss for the evolution. He told us about being on the Silent Drill Team. He related that after the Sunset Parades, the local girls were very excited to see them. The rest of what he said I cannot repeat online! ;)

[COLOR="DarkGreen"]When I was a Drill Instructor, Diego, the Silent drill Team performed two show's. Our series watched. It gave me goose bumps. After they performed flawlessly, it somehow motivated the entire series to perform better at drill. A Drill Instructor's biggest headache. Arms parallel to the deck, "DON'T MOVE YOUR GORD, !@#$%^&!!!", "COVER, ALIGNMENT..."What in the hell is so hard about looking out of the corner of your eye's, "Maggot's" and keep in line, just tell me!!!! That's it, get in the pit's, you want to play silly little games, I'll show you some silly games you bunch of" Bring back any memorie's? I was called in by my C.O. once an enlisted Marine, Drill Instructor. "I have a request here, for your presence/body to be transferred to 8th and I, Silent Drill Team." "Speak your piece, then get out of my sight." "NO SIR", "AYE, AYE SIR!!" Think I will go fishing. LOL.....If it aint green paint the damn thing maggot's. Carry on. /COLOR]

I was on the Silent Drill team when it was between the transition of "team" and "platoon" because the Commandant of the USMC, General Gray didn't like the name TEAM. He wanted us to be PLATOON! Served on 8th&I Silent drill team/platoon from 1985-1987

Technopimp@smartneighborhood.netI remember that; his rationale was the "team" is the "entire" Marine Corps, not just a "select" few.
