I sure do remember it,, I guess I joined because of my Brother and Father, they made it so I wanted that bond as well..

I don't remember seeing it. My daughter said, she joined, because of her big brother. I'm not sure, why my oldest son did, except, he'd been playing soldier, for as long as I can remember. Id thought by the time he was 21, we'd made it threw, and past that, thought, but, out of the blue, he says, Mom, I joined the marines. I was shocked, sort of. But, then he did boy scouts, and Civil Air partol, So, I guess it wasn't that big of a shock.

Joined before that commercial so had no effect on my decision. It is striking to see the emphasis on "men" during that era. Could not happen today.

That commercial was actually before my time to join up, but I sure did spend some time in the rose garden while I was at PI!

By the time this came out, I was already a corporal. My father was my recruiting commercial.

The "Rose Garden" theme wasn't new in 1973. We were chanting things related to "We didn't promise you a rose garden" in boot camp (1971). Plus MAG-15, in 1972, nick-named their bare bones base in Thailand "Rose Garden."
