I was 7 years old and do not remember a lot of that day. I do remember everyone was gathered around their radios listening to FDR.

I am in Hawaii right now for the events commemorating the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Yesterday, the Young Marines dedicated a plaque on the walkway to the lookout at the Punch Bowl. This morning we joined Marines and Navy personnel at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay for the Clipper Ceremony, commemorating the 18 military and two civilians that were the first killed on the island the morning of December 7th. This afternoon we have 150 Young Marines here on the island from across the United States who will be part of the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Parade this evening here on the island, marching in the parade and holding the identification banners for al;l parade participants. And if that was not enough, last night at dinner I had the honor to meet one of the Pearl Harbor survivors here to attend the parade. He is 96 years old and it was truly an honor to meet him and his family.
To say I have been overwhelmed by the military personnel I have met, young old, currently serving, retired etc. would be an understatement. What and experience!
