6 seconds left, and the field goal, could not have been more suspenseful if they had orchestrated it that way.

So many injuries on both sides.

There goes our quest for a perfect season but to repeat as Super Bowl Champions is the endgame.

Best of luck and health to all the teams.

It was a very entertaining game, and the outcome wasn't what I expected. Brock Osweiler is very impressive as the Bronco's QB. Manning may be out of a job ...

It appears after watching last night's game, he realized he no longer has a future with the Broncos ...

Rocky C

I give him all the credit in the world Rich but I read an article from a reporter that was in the locker room and he said that it took Manning almost 50 minutes to get out of his uniform. Had to have an attendant remove his cleats. So sad.

He's all broken..... Time to bow out and enjoy time with his Family and Friends.

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired Chip Kelly, the team has announced. But the former head coach is not going away empty-handed.

Kelly still had two years left on his 5-year, $32.5 million contract, with an annual salary of $6.5 million, according to Spotrac.

That means the Eagles still owed Kelly about $13.4 million at the time he was let go.

If you want to play the math game, that means the Eagles will ultimately pay Kelly $32.5 million for 26 wins in three seasons, or about $1.25 million per win. That's pretty hefty.

The Cleveland Browns and quarterback Johnny Manziel could be headed for a breakup, SI’s Peter King reports.

According to King, the Browns are ‘so done’ with Manziel after he missed a concussion checkup at team headquarters Sunday morning, and couldn’t be reached on his phone all day.

He added that Manziel, the No. 22 pick in the 2014 NFL draft, would like to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Manziel grew up in Texas and played football at Texas A&M, and while Cowboys backup quarterback Kellen Moore is under contract for one more season, third-stringer Matt Cassel is not.

Tom Brady’s ankle injury seems to be a classic case of “It looked a lot worse than it was.”

The New England Patriots quarterback was hobbled Sunday after having his right ankle rolled under Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh, but the injury isn’t serious. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that an MRI revealed Brady suffered a sprained ankle but there were no breaks or fractures.

According to Schefter, Brady should be good to go when the Patriots begin their playoffs schedule on Jan. 16 in the AFC divisional round.

Brady, who was seen limping after the Patriots’ loss in Miami, told reporters in his postgame news conference that he was OK despite being a little bit sore. He reiterated that Monday in an interview with WEEI.

The Indianapolis Colts announced Monday night they’ve agreed to a four-year contract extension with coach Chuck Pagano, whose future with the organization had been the subject of intense speculation for months.

A report from ESPN last week said the Colts had already decided to fire Pagano. But less than 24 hours after Pagano’s contract expired, the Colts announced a new deal.

"I've had a lot of great days in my life, but none better than today," Pagano said at a news conference. "Today is absolutely the best day of my life."

Pagano is 41-23 in his four years with the Colts. Indianapolis missed the playoffs at 8-8 this season, but star quarterback Andrew Luck sat out nine games with a lacerated kidney.

The team also gave general manager Ryan Grigson an extension through the end of Pagano's contract. Irsay defended Grigson's track record, saying he had "outdone" Hall of Famer Bill Polian during his time.

Irsay also dismissed reports of a rift, saying Pagano pushed for Grigson to receive the new deal.

"It was always my hope that this would be the direction we had, but I had to be sure," Colts owner Jim Irsay said.

The Tennessee Titans announced an organizational shakeup Monday that included the firing of general manager Ruston Webster. However interim head coach Mike Mularkey will be given an opportunity to interview for his job on a permanent basis.

In addition, Steve Underwood has been named president and chief executive officer on a permanent basis, after serving in an interim capacity.

"I would like to thank Ruston Webster for all of his efforts with our franchise, as he is a man of great character and integrity and someone for whom we I have tremendous respect," said team owner Amy Adams Strunk in a statement.

"Our mission is to become one of the elite franchises in the National Football League, and we have fallen short of this goal in recent years. We are in the search process for our head coaching and general manager positions. We share our fans’ frustration about the team’s recent performance, and we are committed to doing everything we can to return our team to a perennial postseason contender.”

The Titans will begin interviewing coach and GM candidates immediately. They have the benefit of having quarterback Marcus Mariota in place and hold the No. 1 pick of the 2016 draft.

Tennessee went 18-46 during Webster's four seasons as GM and failed to make the playoffs. They last qualified for postseason in 2008.

“I want to thank the Titans organization for the opportunity to be their general manager over the last four seasons,” said Webster. “I have always had the best interests of the franchise in mind and did my best to move this franchise forward. The most important thing to me are the relationships I built within the building and the Nashville community. My family and I will be forever grateful, and we wish the franchise the best of luck in the future.”

After starting 1-6 this season, the Titans fired Ken Whisenhunt in November, enabling Mularkey to coach the team for the remainder of the season.

The largest question now is who is the best coach to get the most out of Mariota, who had a strong rookie season. Expect Chip Kelly to be a candidate.

Athletic and mobile, Mariota has a quick release, which is a particular benefit while playing behind a questionable offensive line. Mariota, who showed poise and toughness in his first NFL season, had a 91.5 passer rating and threw three or more touchdown passes in four different games, tying Peyton Manning for the most ever by a rookie.

But as a young quarterback, he has to be put in a position to succeed. And after nursing multiple knee injuries this season, he has to remain upright. The Titans allowed an inordinate amount of sacks. Protecting Mariota is the priority, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if they invest in an offensive lineman with a high draft pick. Mariota was sacked 38 times in his 12 starts.

But the team also needs more offensive weapons around its young quarterback, specifically a reliable running back and a go-to receiving option. There are also plenty of holes on defense. Tennessee averaged just 18.7 points per game and just 92.8 rushing yards per game. They allowed 26.4 points per game, sixth-worst in the league.

The Tom Coughlin era in New York is over.

Coughlin stepped down Monday as head coach of the Giants after a disappointing season ended with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced.

The Giants sputtered to a 6-10 record and failed to win an NFC East that was wide open for the majority of the season. New York blew fourth-quarter leads in the final minute of games five times this season, dooming the team’s postseason chances.

“I met with John Mara and Steve Tisch this afternoon, and I informed them that it is in the best interest of the organization that I step down as head coach," Coughlin said in a statement. "I strongly believe the time is right for me and my family, and as I said, the Giants organization.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as head coach of the New York Football Giants. This is a not a sad occasion for me. I have spent 15 years with this organization as an assistant and head coach and was fortunate to be part of three Super Bowl winning teams. A Lombardi Trophy every five years is an achievement in which we all take great pride."

Coughlin, 69, was the second longest-tenured coach in the NFL and the third-longest with one team, behind Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots and Marvin Lewis of the Cincinnati Bengals. Coughlin won two Super Bowl titles with the Giants in 2007 and 2011, both times beating the Patriots.

Now New York needs to decide whether to go forward with a full-scale rebuild, or whether to add pieces to what is a depleted roster.

Other than quarterback Eli Manning, receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul – who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason – the Giants lack significant star power.

General manager Jerry Reese, who is largely responsible for constructing the team, appears to be safe in his role, as the Giants are one of the most patient and stable franchises in the NFL. But if Reese doesn’t improve the team’s talent and continues to miss on draft picks, his job may soon be in question.

Manning is locked in to a long-term contract that was signed this offseason, and he might be one reason why this job could appeal to several candidates. Coupled with Beckham’s explosiveness, the pair have had very productive seasons in New York under offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo’s West Coast offense.

Coughlin leaves the NFL with a combined record of 170-150, spanning 20 seasons in the league with the Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Very tough to say. Alabama is favored. But I've been following Clemson since Day 1, this year and last year, so I'll go with them, but will not be surprised if beaten by Alabama.......tonight on ESPN.

Alabama 45 Clemson 40

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A generation separates Nick Saban and Bear Bryant as Alabama head coaches, iconic figures on the Crimson Tide sideline who have carved out niches deep in the school’s lore. Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa in 2007 to rescue the program from a stunning stretch of mediocrity, which included the scandal of Mike DuBose, the quick exit of Dennis Franchione, the quicker exit of Mike Price and the underwhelming tenure of Mike Shula. As the losses piled up, the Tide’s struggles somehow made the legendary Bryant loom even larger.

With each year that passed, Bryant’s dizzying résumé of success inched farther out of reach, an unattainable ideal that practically taunted the Tide through their down years in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Bryant won six national titles, 13 SEC championships and 13 national coach of the year honors. Prior to Saban’s arrival, those were distant memories at Alabama, as it fought NCAA sanctions, got passed in the SEC hierarchy and made national headlines mostly for its futility.

No. 2 Alabama’s 45-40 national title triumph over No. 1 Clemson on Monday night puts Saban squarely in lockstep with Bryant. This marks Saban’s fourth national championship as the Crimson Tide’s coach and fifth overall (he captured the 2003 national title with LSU), and it’s safe to say none of Saban’s other titles can be pinpointed back to a single decision like the fourth-quarter onside kick that turned the game. That kick—masterfully called, deftly executed—gave Bama just enough momentum to outlast a Herculean effort from Clemson sophomore quarterback Deshaun Watson. Saban’s savvy led to the Tide’s fourth national title in the last seven years, a stunning run of dominance in the modern era that has some now believing Saban’s stint is more impressive than even Bryant's best run.

“I think this is the most impressive run of the modern era,” former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden said on Monday night. “I think it all goes back to Saban. He’s the most complete football coach in the nation today, and maybe ever.”

Of Saban’s four national titles in Tuscaloosa, this featured the most competitive championship. With 10:34 remaining in the fourth quarter and Alabama having just tied the score at 24, Saban called for an unconventional onside kick that will be immortalized as one of the gutsiest gambles in college football history. Crimson Tide junior kicker Adam Griffith popped up a chip shot about 14 yards in front of the Clemson sideline that caught the Tigers totally off guard. Alabama redshirt freshman Marlon Humphrey—the son of Tide legend Bobby Humphrey—ran under it to give Alabama possession. The play stunned Clemson so much that Humphrey basically had enough time to signal for a fair catch.

The kick worked so well that even the perpetually stoic Saban smiled in devilish delight. Two plays later, Alabama took a 31–24 lead behind a 51-yard touchdown pass from fifth-year senior quarterback Jake Coker to 6' 6", 242-pound junior tight end O.J. Howard. (Dusting off the criminally underutilized Howard may have been the Tide’s best offensive wrinkle of the night, as he finished with 208 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He entered the game with just 394 yards on the season, making the last few months seem like an extended decoy.)

“I think special teams may have been the difference in the game,” Saban said. “The onside kick and kick return for a touchdown changed the momentum.”

On a night when Heisman Trophy-winning junior Derrick Henry played well but looked mortal and Heisman finalist Watson appeared on the cusp of a generational Vince Young-like performance, Saban stole the show from the sideline. His gutsy decision hog-tied the momentum for the Tide on a night when it ping-ponged back and forth until that point. Alabama wrestled control of the game after the call and sealed it with two late touchdowns. Senior Kenyan Drake’s 95-yard kickoff return for a score with about eight minutes left put the game out of reach, and Henry iced the title in the waning minutes with a one-yard touchdown run.

Still, it can’t be overstated what a savvy, unconventional and historic call Saban made to go with an onside kick during the fourth quarter of a tie game. In college football perhaps more than any other sport, coaches are mythologized, revered and defined for their success. Saban, after all, is already honored with a statue on the Alabama campus. This is the type of decision that will be discussed on bar stools, tee boxes and rib stands from Montgomery to Hoover for generations.

There were other memorable performances—Henry’s 158 rushing yards, Coker’s 335 passing yards and a strong showing from the marauding Tide defensive line. But this game will come back to Griffith’s kick and Humphrey’s recovery, which may well have been Saban’s karmic special teams payback for the infamous Kick-Six that cost Alabama a shot at the national title in the 2013 Iron Bowl. This victory will be remembered as a Special Delivery, one that will somehow endear Saban even more to the Crimson Tide faithful.

The win raises the question of whether Saban’s dominance in the modern era, complete with a deeper SEC, a conference title game and two College Football Playoff games, is more impressive than Bryant’s. Comparing runs like Alabama’s string of titles under Saban (2009, ’11, ’12 and ’15) to its stretch under Bryant is tricky. “I think it’s hard to compare,” said former SEC commissioner Roy Kramer. “I don’t think there’s any way you can judge [which run is more impressive]. The conference is more competitive top-to-bottom than days gone by, which results in a more difficult regular-season schedule. But [Bryant] certainly had a dominant period where Alabama dominated the conference in a manner no other school did.”

Said Saban after Monday's game: “I’m so pleased and proud of [my team]. I haven’t thought about the rest of [the championships].

The debate can rage on about which run is better. At this point, however, Saban is an equal to the coach he arrived at Alabama to chase. On this star-kissed night, Saban’s decision brought him even closer to the Bear in Crimson Tide lore.

Steelers vs Broncos at 1640 hours on CBS

Wow am I happy the Patriots won . Can't tell that I'm a diehard fan, hahahaha.

Went to my first game when I was 6 with my Dad. They were the Boston Patriots then. Sat on wooden benches.....They came a long way over the years.... So did I lol.

Ok, I want the Panthers today over the Seahawks and I want the Steelers over the Broncos.

If the Steelers win the Patriots play them at home for the AFC Championship.
Then I can go to the game down the street almost. lol

If the Broncos win we go there to play. I am not going to Denver.

In my perfect world I want A Patriots/Panthers rematch and so does Rich :)

Sorry your Pat's did not beat Denver. I have seen quite a few New England games and yesterday did not look like the team I am used to seeing. Denver's defense seemed to have Brady's number all game.
However with that said, they were able to make it close and almost tie it at the end.

Should be an interesting Super Bowl.

Tom Brady is a great QB, but I really enjoyed seeing him on his back most of the game yesterday. The better team yesterday was Denver which has an awesome defense. Defense is what will win you football games.

Cam Newton is a Pro Football QB who looked like he was really having fun yesterday and that is how it should be. This guy has it all in one seabag. As for the Cardnials, you can't have all those turnovers and expect to win.

On to the SB and may the best team win.

The Patriots fired offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo on Monday, according to NFL.com, one day after Tom Brady was hit 23 times in their AFC championship game loss to the Broncos.

Something like this was bound to happen. Patriots coach Bill Belichick and his staff needed to find a scapegoat, and DeGuglielmo was rendered an obvious target for his management of an offensive line unit that was ravaged by injuries this week.

Brady was sacked four times of the 23 hits in Sunday's 20-18 loss, but the four-time Super Bowl champion made no excuses after the game.

"When you play quarterback, you're going to take hits. You have to stand in there and make throws. There are no excuses for me for not getting the job done," Brady said, via ESPN.com. "Our guys fought hard. I'm proud of all the guys for what they tried to accomplish. We just came up one play short to a very good football team."

Injuries to starting left tackle Nate Solder earlier in the season opened the flood gates for Patriots offensive linemen being sidelined. Because of the injuries, they started 13 different offensive combinations this season — an NFL record.

Another person fans have been pointing fingers at is kicker Stephen Gostkowski, who picked a bad time to miss the first extra point since his rookie season nine years ago. The miss made it necessary for the Patriots to attempt a two-point conversion to tie the game and send it to overtime, but they failed.

"Steve is a great kicker. He had a great year for us," Belichick said, via ESPN.com. "I think every coach or player who participated in the game wishes there was a couple things they could have done differently. I feel that way. Everybody I've talked to feels that way. I can't imagine that anyone who participated in the game doesn't feel that way. ... I feel like it's my fault, I'm sure all the other players who played feel like it's their fault."

Are two Gronks better than one ?.

It's a question that will be left for Patriots braintrust to decide leading up to April's NFL Draft, when they'll have the option to select Kansas State fullback Glenn Gronkowski to play alongside his older brother, Rob, the Patriots' larger-than-life All-Pro tight end.

Participating in the Senior Bowl this week, Glenn Gronkowski told reporters that he was scheduled to meet with Patriots representatives Wednesday night.

"That would be awesome," he said when asked about playing with Rob, via ESPN.com. "I've actually never played with any of my brothers before. They've always been too old for me. ... Everyone else has played together, so to be on the same team, that would be a dream come true."

Glenn Gronkowski, 22, is the youngest of five brothers and would become the fourth to play in the NFL.

Dan Gronkowski, a tight end, was a seventh-round pick by the Lions in 2009. In 2011, he joined Rob in New England and played in five games — the only time any of the brothers has played together at the NFL level. Chris Gronkowski went undrafted out of Arizona and last played in the league as a fullback with the Broncos in 2012.

Rob Gronkowski, drafted by the Patriots in the second round in 2010, has enjoyed by far the most success of the clan, catching 65 touchdowns in six seasons as Tom Brady's favorite target. He was selected to his fourth Pro Bowl this season.

Glenn Gronkowski played three seasons as fullback with the Wildcats, declaring early for the draft as a junior. But at 6-3, 234 pounds, he's been asked to play out of position as a tight end at the Senior Bowl. It's projected that he'll be drafted sometime in the late rounds.

Peyton Manning had a funny response Thursday to the story that blew up this week of him telling Bill Belichick this might be his final season.

In a video shared by NFL Media, the contents of the conversation the Denver Broncos quarterback shared with the New England Patriots head coach after Sunday's AFC Championship Game were revealed. Manning told Belichick that this season “might be my last rodeo”.

On Thursday, Manning was asked about the “rodeo” comments.

“I don’t know if it’s been confirmed,” Manning joked. “What happened to private conversations on the 50-yard line? I guess they just don’t exist anymore. No confirmation on that whatsoever.”

Manning then broke out his best Belichick impression.

“We are on to Carolina,” he said.

Manning is 39 and endured the worst statistical season of his career. There is little doubt he heard all the critics who ripped his poor play, which along with injuries led to Brock Osweiler taking over the starting job. If Manning is able to win the Super Bowl, he would have to give strong consideration to walking out on top of the game like his boss, John Elway.

Superbowl tomorrow. With the Patriots out of it, I sort of hope the Broncos win, but ONLY if it's Manning's last season. If it is, I'd like to see him go out with this Superbowl win under his belt---going back to Tom Brady for a second, he may not have any excuses as such, for what happened with the Broncos and the Pats, but he sure has a REASON that it happened that way. Denver defense, pure and simple. So instead of Brady saying he has no excuses (no one expected him to come up with any), he could simply have said the obvious. That Denver's defense consistently kept the Pats from scoring and dominating. It was as simple as that.----so I have no favorite, Panthers or Broncos, but as I mentioned, if Manning is into his final season, what better way to leave the game than with a Superbowl victory?

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Peyton Manning's days of decoding defenses and recuperating in cold tubs are over.

A month after basking in the glow of his second Lombardi Trophy and a parade through downtown Denver attended by more than a million fans, the soon-to-be 40-year-old quarterback called one last audible and told Broncos boss John Elway he's retiring.

The Broncos are holding a news conference now.

Team president Joe Ellis calls it a "historic day for the Denver Broncos and the National Football League."

Ellis says Manning made the team, organization and the community better.

Elway has now taken the podium to talk about Manning.

"I know this is a tough day for him," Elway said.

The tributes came pouring in when word got out Sunday that Manning was calling it a career.

Tom Brady tweeted his congratulations to Manning, telling his rival, "You changed the game forever and made everyone around you better."

Could there be a higher compliment?

Manning's college coach, Phillip Fulmer, called it "almost magical" what Manning was able to accomplish in his four years in Denver following neck fusion surgery that threatened to short-circuit his career.

Instead, Manning went 50-15 in Denver, winning his fifth MVP award, surpassing Brett Favre's records for career yards, touchdowns and victories while leading the Broncos to two Super Bowls.

"I've said this a lot of times to people, he didn't get better each game. He got better every meeting, every practice, every period in practice," Fulmer said. "He was the most incredible player that I've ever seen of taking it from the film room to the practice field and then from the practice field to the game."

The knock on Manning was that he didn't win more Super Bowls. For a guy with such a great regular season record (186-79), his playoff mark of just 14-13 paled in comparison.

"People don't realize, it's hard to always be the best player," Fulmer argued. "For almost all his years, he had to be the best player. At Indianapolis, he never had a great defense around him. In my opinion, if he had been on teams like this last Broncos team -- a team not even as good on defense -- the guy might have six or seven Super Bowls."

Commissioner Roger Goodell called Manning "a great representative of the NFL both on the field and in his community," adding, "We are forever grateful for Peyton's unmatched contributions to the game and know his success will continue in the next phase of his life."

No one's sure what that will be.

Less than 24 hours before informing the Broncos of his decision to retire, Manning said during an appearance Friday night in Florida that he had no idea what he'll do in retirement.

There are plenty of possibilities -- and advice -- to stay in football, from the broadcast booth to the front office.

Some believe he'll eventually be an NFL owner.

ESPN, FOX, NBC and CBS all said they would love to talk to him if he decides to go into broadcasting.

Just shy of 40, Manning will forgo $19 million and a 19th season in the NFL, where he served as both a throwback and a transformer during a glittering career bookmarked by an unprecedented five MVP awards and dozens of passing records.

"Peyton was a player that guys wanted to play with," Elway said. "That made us better as a team and I'm thrilled that we were able to win a championship in his final year."

Manning leaves the league as its career passing leader and winningest starting quarterback, the only one in NFL history to win Super Bowls with two franchises.

His first came in 2007 with the Indianapolis Colts, who drafted him No. 1 overall in 1998. The Colts gave up on him after a series of neck surgeries forced Manning to miss all of the 2011 season and left him without feeling in the fingertips of his right hand.

A rare superstar quarterback on the open market in 2012, Manning resettled in Denver, where he threw 140 of his NFL-high 539 TD passes, including a record 55 in 2013.

"I get asked a lot about my legacy," Manning said before the Super Bowl. "For me, it's being a good teammate, having the respect of my teammates, having the respect of the coaches and players. That's important to me. I am not taking this for granted. I just love football."

The 18th season for No. 18 was by far his most trying on the field. He had to adjust to new coach Gary Kubiak's run-based offense and to unrelenting health issues on his way to winning his second Super Bowl. Off the field, he faced questions about his character, too.

Manning, whose dry wit and star power has made him a staple of commercials and late-night television for nearly two decades, had his squeaky-clean image take a beating as the final pages were flipped on his storied career.

The NFL is investigating allegations that human growth hormone was shipped to his home in his wife's name following an Al Jazeera report -- Manning dismissed the story as "garbage." And in a new lawsuit filed last month claiming a hostile work environment for women at the University of Tennessee, Manning was cited for his alleged harassment of a female trainer in 1996.

A torn ligament in his left foot hampered Manning all the way back to August. It led to his worst statistical season and sidelined him for six weeks before that fairy tale finish in Santa Clara, California, when his defense carried him across the finish line.

Constantly harassed, never quite comfortable -- sort of the way the whole season played out -- Manning walked away with his second NFL title after Denver's defense, with seven sacks and four takeaways, all but handed him the Lombardi Trophy in a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

"He had to do several things different this year," said his dad, Archie, a former star quarterback himself. "Had to take off during the season, which he'd never done before. He ran the scout team, which I don't think he'd ever done, and he dressed out as a backup, which he'd never done."

Manning also had to play the role of game manager for the first time during Denver's defense-fueled run to the title. "I'm just glad I was on the same team as our defense," he said.

Manning's retirement leaves the Broncos with $19 million in salary cap relief they can use to try to sign his long-time backup, Brock Osweiler, who's set to become a free agent Wednesday.

Manning finished in a tie with Favre for most regular-season wins with 186. His victory in Super Bowl 50 was his 14th in the postseason, one more than Favre, making him the NFL's only 200-win quarterback.

"There's no question that his work ethic is what made him into one of the great quarterbacks of all time," Elway said. "All the film study Peyton did and the process that he went through with game planning and understanding what the other teams did was second to none."

I have a feeling that we will most likely see Payton Manning again down the road.... if not as a sportscaster, then in some coaching capacity, perhaps at college level.... one thing for sure, he'd probably be one hell of a "quarterback coach"... I used to say the same about his father Archie.....

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tray Walker is dead at the age of 23 after a motorcycle crash Thursday night left him with severe head injuries, his agent confirmed to reporters.

Walker was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami after the crash, where he remained in critical care overnight and died Friday after having surgery.

Walker was a fourth-round pick in last year’s draft out of Texas Southern, and played mostly on special teams last season.

Police told ESPN that Walker collided with a car at an intersection shortly before 8 p.m. Walker was wearing dark clothing and the motorcycle did not have lights, police said.

So young, so sad. RIP TRAY....

BOCA RATON, Fla. — NFL ownership approved the change of nine rules Wednesday, including one that results in an automatic ejection for a player or coach receiving two unsportsmanlike personal fouls, on a one-year trial basis.

Additionally, touchbacks will result in the ball being placed at the 25-yard line, instead of the 20-yard line, also amended for a one-year trial.

The experimental phase in 2016 is a similar path to the rule that moved extra point attempt snaps to the 15-yard line last year, which was permanently adopted this week.

New York Giants co-owner John Mara told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday that the personal foul rule was met with “some opposition” due to concern over the automatic ejection, as some coaches wanted to allow the officials more discretion.

“There will be more discussions, and there will be another set of meetings that will happen,” Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera, one of the most vocal supporters of the rule, said Wednesday morning. “But I think the attitude, the intent and the idea of making sure that there is some sort of discipline, whether it is at the referee's discretion or through this mechanism of two strikes and you're out, than that might make sense.”

San Francisco 49ers coach Chip Kelly, however, expressed his opposition.

“You ever see A Few Good Men?” Kelly asked? “Why the two orders? Right? If you already have the ability to throw them out of the game, why do we have to put a second order in to throw them out of the game? Throw them out of the game. If they’re not playing the right way, and we already have the ability to eject them, why do we have to put another order in?”

A proposal from the Baltimore Ravens to expand reviewable plays was tabled for further discussion.

Here’s the full list of new rules that will be implemented next season:

1. By Competition Committee; Permanently moves the line of scrimmage for Try kicks to the defensive team’s 15-yard line, and allows the defense to return any missed Try.

2. By Competition Committee; Permits the offensive and defensive play callers on the coaching staffs to use the coach-to-player communication system regardless of whether they are on the field or in the coaches’ booth.

3. By Competition Committee; Makes all chop blocks illegal.

4. By Competition Committee; Disqualifies a player who is penalized twice in one game for certain types of unsportsmanlike conduct fouls. Amended to one-year only.

5. By Competition Committee; Changes the spot of the next snap after a touchback resulting from a free kick to the 25-yard line. Amended to one-year only.

6. By Competition Committee; Expands the horse collar rule to include when a defender grabs the jersey at the name plate or above and pulls a runner toward the ground.

7. By Competition Committee; Makes it a foul for delay of game when a team attempts to call a timeout when it is not permitted to do so

8. By Competition Committee; Eliminates the five-yard penalty for an eligible receiver illegally touching a forward pass after being out of bounds and re-establishing himself inbounds, and makes it a loss of down.

9. By Competition Committee; Eliminates multiple spots of enforcement for a double foul after a change of possession.

A U.S. appeals court on Monday restored the four-game "Deflategate" suspension of New England Patriots star quarterback Tom Brady over allegations footballs were under inflated before an NFL playoff game last year.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York reversed a federal judge's ruling from September. The appeals court ruled that in imposing the suspension, National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell properly exercised his discretion under a collective bargaining agreement.

I think that if Brady was thinking of retirement now is the time, I think that would spell the end of Goodell.

It would but Brady has another 5 years left in him for sure.
