YAMAGUCHI (Kyodo) A U.S. Marine was arrested Sunday for allegedly
stealing some 500,000 yen worth of car parts in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi
Prefecture, police said. Cpl. Todd Heaney, 24, stationed at the Marine
Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, is suspected together with another
marine of stealing a wheel, a driver's seat and nine other items from
used passenger cars on display at a local dealership Sept. 28.
Both marines have admitted to the crime, police said, adding they found
several of the stolen items at Heaney's home. Police said they plan to
send the other Marine's case to prosecutors on the same charge.
