3rd FSSG supports another successful year

CAMP KINSER — -- The year 2003 was filled with many historical events such as the Global War on Terrorism that caught the worlds attention. During that time, 3rd Force Service Support Group provided combat service support for more than 40 training exercises and provided more than 150 augmenters in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The mission of 3rd FSSG is to provide responsive, quality, precision logistics and combat service support to the III Marine Expeditionary Force and other Marine forces in its area of responsibility. They also provide support to Joint, Combined, and Federal Agencies as directed through expeditionary means, forward basing, and global sourcing in order to provide combat service support to supported units during exercises and contingencies.
According to Sgt. Maj. Paul L. Forney, sergeant major, 3rd FSSG, it was the dedication and work by the junior Marines and Sailors that made the year a success.
During 2003, 3rd FSSG tackled many deployments. Some of their accomplishments include but are not limited to a winter training program with the Republic of Korea Marine Corps, a Bangladesh Interoperability Exercise, support of a Combined Civil Military Operation Task Force in Thailand, Exercise Cobra Gold also in Thailand, Exercise Balikatan 03 in the Philippines, Crocodile 03 in Australia, and Exercise Talon Vision 04. They also supported Operation Iraqi Freedom throughout the year.
Now that 2004 is here, Brig. Gen. Frank A. Panter, commanding general, 3rd FSSG, said that he looks forward to the upcoming year for his Marines and Sailors.
We want to continue to provide responsive and quality logistical support to III MEF and other global requirements as necessary, Panter said. Additionally, we will strive to provide the very best training possible for our Marines and Sailors, always keeping in mind the importance of the welfare of their families.
