In Larry Smith's 2008 book of recollections of servicemen at Iwo Jima Battle .pp..152-153 on e recollection was the loss of two Marines at Iwo Jima {Babich and Madsen} who were killed in a cave at Iwo jima. There was a question if remains of either were ever recovered.
The remains of both were recovered because
1) They are not listed on the ABMC website
2) Their memorials online
