Just a few pictures from my Afghanistan deployment in 2011-12. All of these were taken on Thanksgiving Day 2011 as we were building PB Pennsylvania. We were right in the middle of Operation Eastern Storm with 1/6, Bravo Co. pushing up the Upper/Northern Sangin River Valley into Kajaki Sofia/Kajaki Dam area. The green valley in the background is Kajaki Sofia/Upper Sangin River Valley, too many IED's to count and constant sound of gunfire.
1/6, Bravo's Company Gunny got us all set up with a little Thanksgiving feast that night after (semi)completing the hasty build of the PB.
This was one of the best times of my life and just looking at the pictures puts a smile on my face. I'd give anything to go back.
Just thought I'd share, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone tomorrow.
