CHEYENNE - There aren't many bare spots on the walls of Jack Quirk's small home.
Framed portraits and paintings of wildlife hang in the living room. A collection of handmade knives provides a backdrop to the dinner table. And stained sculptures made from plastic foam decorate the foyer, hallway and a small room off the kitchen.
They're all products of Quirk's artistic energy.
His drive to create wakes him during the earliest hours, leaving him intently focused on a project until he sees it finished.
"Jack is focused in the direction that he's focused," said his friend, Mark Shubert.
He calls Quirk a typical Marine. He calls him honest, proud and stubborn.
"You have a heck of a time changing his mind sometimes," Shubert said, "even when he knows he's wrong. But he's somebody you can count on."
