Good Morning Marines!
First, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I served on active duty from June 1998 to September 2009. I spent most of my time in and out of Camp Kinser, Okinawa deploying with the 31st MEU and was in Iraq with CLR25 in 2005. I never meant to stay past 4 years on active duty but with the events of Sept 11, 2001 I decided to stick around a little longer. In 2009 an excellent job opportunity presented itself and after doing the math on retirement pay after 20 VS what I could make I decided it was time to leave. My heart has yet to get too far from my fellow Marines though. That being said Im on a journey now and might be over my head in a way. I have at the age of 34 signed up for an event called World’s Toughest Mudder. If you have not heard of this event it is a 24 hour brutal endurance obstacle course. Usually the course is 10mi long with around 40 obstacles and the goal is to complete the course as many times as possible in a 24 hour period. I have no intentions of winning this race, just pushing myself to the limit and seeing what Im really made of. Part of the event is to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and the person who raises the most will be recognized somehow. It will not be winning money or anything like that Im sure but there will be some sort of recognition. So, that brings me to the purpose of this post. There are usually only around 1200 people a year from all over the world who attempt to complete the event. I would venture to say that maybe only a handful have worn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. Im asking all fellow Marines to throw in a donation on my fundraiser page and pass it on to their family and friends. Currently I have raised $2890 through my family and friends so now Im reaching out to my Marine Corps family. My goal is $12000! Every donation goes DIRECTLY to the Wounded Warrior Project and is tax deductible. You can get to my fundraiser page by visiting my website. Thank you all in advance and I will represent the Marine Corps proudly on the course. http://www.muddermurphy.com (http://www.muddermurphy.com/)
