Greeting Ladies and Gents,( Marines ).

I'm interested of becoming a Warrant Officer. I looked at the order and I am qualified so far except I'm not at my eight year mark so I have a couple of questions.

1. What can I do to make the application process smoother?

2. Is there certain things the Marine Corps is looking for toward becoming a Warrant Officer?

3. I was on BCP will that affect my career becoming a Warrant Officer?

4. I almost have my BA for criminal justice will that help me?

5. What do I got to look forward to in becoming a Warrant Officer?

Thanks for your advice

It's not going to help you, that's for sure...It's a permanent record in your jacket ( SRB ). <br />

If Marines do not meet the established height-weight standards and/or the new body fat standards,...

How is your military appearance today? Don't know about now but when I applied (3 times) back in the 80's you had to submit an official photo in the service alpha uniform. I would say if you do not look slim and trim in the photo do not bother.

I don't know much about the Warrant Officer program, but since you're a Corporal, why don't you consider becoming a Commissioned Officer?

In my view, the only reason to become a Warrant Officer instead of a commissioned officer is if you really love your MOS and can't imagine yourself doing anything else.

Commissioned Officers (except LDOs) are unrestricted line officers. They can be thrust into a variety of different billets. They can hold command at a various levels as their careers progress.

Warrant Officers are specialists, while Commissioned Officers are generalists. If you think you would relish having a multitude of differing experiences throughout the Marine Corps, I recommend the commission route.

I bring it up because I'm fairly certain that you can apply for MECEP as a Corporal, but you have to be a Sergeant with 8 to apply for WO.

The BCP thing is going to hurt you. However, I'm sure the selection board could blink at that if your BCP placement was a long time ago, and if your fitness is top tier.

Sorry if that didn't help much.
