Good evening Marines,

I am curious about becoming an associate member of the Marine Corps League. Due to a medical condition, I cannot enlist in the Corps, but I still love the Marines and want to get involved somehow. Getting involved in the Marine Corps League seems like a good way to do that. Does this sound like a good idea? How welcome would a non-Marine be at meetings?

Thanks in advance for your answers, and thank you all for your service!

West Chigago----
Spent my early years there
Can't recall the street name, top of a hill with a few surrounding houses.

Dad would take us to White Castle in Joliet across from the prison on Fridays
(sometimes) for a treat

At my or our meeting(s) you would feel a bit odd. You would/will probably fit in over time, but the MCL and its detachments are comprised of a bunch of salty Marine Veterans so expect some time before you understand the workings of the Marines, the Corps, and all that in-between. I'm not trying to discourage you, just trying to be honest. Good for you for wanting to make a difference and by all means call your local Detachment and check with them.

Good luck.

I agree with what thewookie has told you.
Go to mcleague.org and find a Detachment in your area for more info.

Some detachment that's hurting for numbers could be taking associates.

Thank you all for the replies, Marines! I will get in contact with the Wheaton, IL, detachment and see what they have to say.
