Went to a Military installation (commissary visit ) today .

The main gate guard (looked awful young-- can't be that I'm that old can it ? ) took a minute to examine the reverse
side of ID cards and glanced at the front side.
Any ideas what was so critical on the reverse ?
With a line of cars behind me I didn't stop to ask ----
Just curious.

Also noticed past have seen sidearms ,today he was carrying an AR 15 . perhaps maybe more than I would choose to carry for that purpose.

you have a retiree card I assume not an active CAC card/I.D.....they could be checking numerous things and it could also just be out of habit from checking all the active duty guys with CAC cards that have all sorts of information on the back(small pic, id #, birthdate, barcode, etc..)

What they are carrying are M16's..A4's or M4's. Not sure what base you are going to but if they have any issues like we have out here they are much better off with a 5.56 round than a 9mm.

Call me "old Fart"
When you hit a man with a 1911 he goes down
When you have any distance to deal with you need an M 1

Nowadays the motive is you don't have to be accurate, just spray an area.
