Just Graduated MCT, and need a questions answered before i go to my MOS school

Hi, my MOS is 0231 Intelligence Specialist, and Im just wondering exactly what i can bring besides everything i've brought to MCT. Like electronics and how often I can use them; and what type of civilian attire as well. Also I'd like to know what to expect in Norfolk, Virginia at my school, such as Schedules, and days liberty for example.

My second question is based on switching my electronic pay from Pacific Marine to Navy Federal. What exactly must I do in order to switch this? I was told by my recruiter I couldn't do it till my Duty Station, but from I hear that's not true. Please if you have helpful information to share, I would be very greatful.

Your recruiter was basically saying you won't have time to F with it until then. You have to contact the pay people at Admin. I don't know much more than that as I haven't done it in years.

Your school isn't in Norfolk, its near VA Beach.

Do you have an LOI from the schoolhouse? It should have what you need to know. You'll report, in uni, to the quarterdeck at NMITC. If no one is on duty you will go to the BEQ (bldg number should be on your orders). You won't actually check in until TD1.

I don't know where the 0231's are staying these days. It won't be a squadbay though. There are both old and new barracks in Dam Neck...they won't be that bad, though I think there are both old and new barracks.

Its a longer school, so you will probably get libo at some point, if not right away. You guys are all junior Marines so they will keep you on a bit of a leash.

Stay away from Peabody's! Even if its not off limits, its bad juju.

Bring presentable clothes. Nothing with holes, nothing vulgar, nothing crazy. Bring PT gear and get your swoll on. It will be a little chilly there now, so pack accordingly. Bring a rain coat or something.

You should be able to bring your personal electronic devices. Check your POC or LOI for limits. DO NOT bring any electronic device into the NMITC building.

I was stationed on that base, but not for your school...so everything I know is from the outside looking in. Plus I was there as a Sgt so...different experience.

VA Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, etc is a nice area. You should have fun. I hope you like powerpoint and taking in front of people evaluating you.

Any electronic devices is allowed in the schoolhouse but you may only use them after working hours. You do not have a set time you have to hit the racks so you can stay up till the next morning on facebook if you so desire. Depending on you school, some schools let you bring your cellphone with you to work but most ban it. I know when I was in the school house if they caught us with a phone, we got thrown into the lake. Whatever civilian attire you want you can bring and wear, so long as it meets MCO 1020.34G.
