You may have noticed that the price for a gallon of milk keeps going up. In many places it is already over $4.00 a gallon. Expectation is if the Farm Bill is not passed, milk will soar to $8.00 a gallon. Think of the impact on families!

The reason is a bit complicated.

"The bill, which essentially provides subsidies for America’s family and small farms, has been stuck in committee for weeks and with budget talks taking priority, farmers and consumer groups fear that prices for dairy staples, such as milk, could hit unprecedented levels.

Some Congressional representatives, mostly from rice and peanut-producing states, are looking for subsidies based on target prices. Others are looking for a former of “stop loss” insurance which would mitigate damages incurred by high production costs. Corn and soybean producers favor the latter."

WHAT CAN YOU DO? FOR STARTERS...CALL YOUR CONGRESSMAN AND SENATOR AND TELL THEM THE IMPACT OF $6.00 TO $8.00 A GALLON WILL HAVE ON YOU AND TO GET OFF THEIR LAURELS AND PASS THE FARM BILL.

Can you name one small farm this will affect? Most of the 'dairy farms' that I have seen are actually huge factories that are no way small and dont even resemble farms. They treat the employees like crap and are just like any other business, trying to make a substandard product with the highest profit margin. If you want milk, by local. Prices will never be double on local products.
