View Full Version : 0231 Clearance issue, Please help.

The MOS I am interested in is 0231. Intel specialist. I have no drug history, No criminal record. My mother is a US resident , has been for 22 years. From Costa Rica. According to my Recuiter this 1 thing is whats holding me back. I have done research and such to see if there is any way that I can still go through with the TS Clearance. Some say yes and some say no. Plz post any information you might have for me on wether or not I can still proceed. Thank you.

Your mother and father's citizenship plays a key role in the SCI portion of your clearance.
Both my parents are legalized Citizens and I have a TS clearance. No waivers or anything. Hmmm im not sure how it works for just residents that arent citizens... I know some guys that i work with(all with TS clearances) that have parents that arent citizens. I think one guy in the airforce im with wasnt even a citizen himself until recently...(might be wrong) Also each branch might have differing requirements to submit you for a TS clearance.
on a side note. the 0231 is usually for officers or reserve people. If you are enlisting and wanting a Intell job you will likely get 26XX like me. I wanted 0231 as well and my contract was for 02xx or 26xx but No one out of the 400 at bootcamp went 02xx. Just a handful of us were 26xx.
