Hey everyone this is my first post on this website. Sorry if this question is answered in another thread but I couldn't find it.

What options do i have for being stationed as an Intel Specialist? I don't really care where I'm stationed but I'd just like to know my options. Are there any Marine Corps/Air Force Joint bases?

There is nobody here that can answer your first question. Your odds of being stationed as an Intel Specialist? We have zero influence on your enlistment contract. That is a question/subject between you and your recruiter.

Joint Bases? The answer is there are a few that have Air Force and Marine Corps commands on them - reserve bases, etc. Here is a '07 article on the subject matter: http://www.military.com/features/0,15240,135317,00.html

I found that by asking my friend, google. He gave me several resources. He is your friend, too.

Any of the joint commands have all the services combined. As an example, The US Central Command is a joint command and is located onboard the MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL. USCENTCOM's area of operations is Southwest Asia which includes Iraq and Afghanistan. It's forward deployed headquaters is located in Ryad, Saudi Arabia. The US Southern Command is also located at MacDill AFB and it controls Latin America and the Caribbean.

If it is like my mos you can only get stationed at the batallions for your first 2 to 3 years. so your choices would be Camp Pendletdon, Camp Lejeune, and Camp Hanson.

Sorry MOS4429 I may have been a little unclear in my first question. I've got the Intel specialist Job. I've signed my job contract and everything. I wanted to know what stationing options i'd have after my MOS school. Like where could I be stationed. And to MunkyVsRobot its 0231

You won't have an option unless you graduate in the top 1% of your class.
You could get stationed anywhere in the world.
It's the needs of the " Corps ".

Step 1. Graduate Boot Camp.

Best of luck to you.

Did you sign specifically for "Intel Specialist" or did you sign DD? I'm willing to bet more than likely you signed DD which has several options. Don't get too tied up thinking you'll automatically be a 0231. I did that and ended up SigInt. Don't mind it at all, but it will make a difference in where you get "stationed." So even if someone gives you an answer as to where an Intel Specialist would get stationed, don't get ahead of yourself. Focus on your next step right now, things that far ahead can change when you don't expect them to.

Good luck.

Hi Marines!
I'm a poolee and I ship out in February. I signed a DD contract because i really want to be an 0231 but there's only a chance that I'll get that MOS. I could also be placed in the 26XX field. After doing a some research I came up with little results and I was hoping to get a little help. Could you Marines please tell what it's like in the 26XX field? What do they do on a day-to-day basis? And what is the difference between it and an 0231?
Thanks in advance Marines!

P.S. Sorry if this has been posted but I can't seem to get my search bar to work

sometimes that doesnt even help, i was top 5, no one in my class got to select where they wanted to go. they tried to help people go where they wanted but if that was he case id be at 1st ;)

and to the OP again id wait till you get what your MOS is before you get too hung up on any one MOS.

I was hoping to get 31 as well if you search all my other posts all i researched was on 31's i had my mind set on being a 31, the MOS that i absolutely did not want was 0261 it was the only one I knew nothing about and it scared be because id have to know trig and all this other crap that i didnt know because i was and still am kinda terrible at math. I researched 0231, 2631 51 and i think 71 is the last one not sure but I researched all but 61's.

Guess what happed to me? At Parris Island a Master Sergeant told me I was going to be a 61 the one I did not want. All in all I am glad I got what I did the 61 community is pretty great and there is a lot of trouble when you go to dam neck word about stuff spreads fast through out the Marine Corps. The Lance Corporal under ground will always find out.
