Looking for Marines that were in platoon 3025 @ MCRDSD, 1971. PC was Gsgt Harkins

What month did you graduate. I graduated in plt 3045 MCRDSD in July 1971. Don't have my grad book and it's actually hell trying to remember those guys names. If you can offer any suggestions I'm all ears.

May 1971 platoon 3025. GSgt Harkins, SSgt Farmer, SSgt Kisner, LCpl Lawler (I think)

Are you saying there was a LCpl Lawler as a Drill Instructor?

Sorry Gunny, I was mistaken about that, it was Cpl Lawler. He joined us in 3rd phase I think. May have been right out of DI school. Only had a fire watch ribbon.

Gunny, Did you know Ed Grayson? He served in Korea. Not sure what his rank was at the time. He retired a full bird. Died about 5 years ago in his mid 80's.

Gunny there were LCpls on the drill field at one time, there was an article in one of my old Leatherneck magazines that talked about it I couldn't believe it myself,Semper Fidelis.

Gunny there were LCpls on the drill field at one time, there was an article in one of my old Leatherneck magazines that talked about it I couldn't believe it myself,Semper Fidelis.
When I was on the Drill Field the lowest rank for Drill Instructors was Cpl. I was there from 1966 - 1973. I however, when I went through boot in 1953 had a Pfc as a junior Drill Instructor.

The war had ended by the time I got to Korea in 1953. I spent my 13 months with the 1st Tank Bn. at the Munsan - ni Railhead, not far from the Imjin River.

F.Y.I. Gunny I have Platoon books from the early 50's that have PFC as Drill Instructors along with L/Cpl.'s also,Just to let you know they did have them back in the early days...

In the early 50's there was no such thing as a LCpl in the Corps. They brought in the present rank structure in 57/58 and if an E-3 Cpl did not make E-4 Cpl in the alloted time he put on the LCpl stripes. After the new rank structure went into effect there could have been a very few LCpl's who had to pin on the LCpl stripes who were already Drill Instructors. Never seen any of these types as I was on I&I duty at the time.
