Some background info first. My son left for bootcamp right after Thanksgiving in 2011. He was there less than a week and ended up in the hospital with double pneumonia. He spent the next 3 months recovering his strength and endurance from that. He graduated from Parris Island on May 18, 2012 as a PFC.
He is currently at Camp Gieger and they just did a bunch of blood work and xrays because he volunteered to try a new training program. They came back and said he has 32% scoliosis. Apparently they found he had roughly 13% scoliosis when he joined but the 32% that he has now is too high for him to carry a pack on his back and they are discharging him with a cnad?
He is very disappointed because his grandfather was a Marine, but wonders if he could possibly get into one of the other branches. My main concern is if he will be able to use the GI bill or have any medical coverage.
Any information or best guess would be appreciated.
