Note: This was written by a man who disarms unexploded ordnance for the military -- currently in Afghanistan. He could be your son, my brother, your sister's husband. I have chosen to protect his anonymity for a variety of reasons, and all names have been changed for that reason. But please know this man exists -- he is a real GI. I was impressed with his command of the English language, his articulateness, and ... he touched my heart deeply. I was in tears when I finished reading the letter. He made the war very real to me. He made the miltary who are serving over there extremely real to me. It is my hope that you will read this ... and keep this young man and all the others he represents in your prayers. Today I have a new hero.
