Hello,

I recently decided I am going to attend college in the Fall of 2012. I sent in to the VA my DD-2384 and filled out the Form 22-1990 but its been about two weeks and no response. I wasn't sure if anyone has been through this process. I'm only entitled to the Montgomery GI Bill - Selected Reserve since I have only been in for a year. I know its not much but anything is better then nothing to help pay for college and I just wanted to get an idea of when I should expect them to get back to me. I did it all online.

If there are any other reserves that did the same thing please let me know!

Thanks

Your profile states still active.
Start with your admin (they may refer you up the chain, but it's a starting point)

Well I already have been to my Admin you need to get a DD-2384 from them to send to the VA. I checked there is no option to select Reserves just date exited the Marines. No option between Active and Reserve.

Typical----
They're making it more difficult than need be.

Back to Admin
Face to face with a person
Here's what I need --if you can't resolve my problem I will have to take it up the chain of command.

Next step your first level supervisor
Next step his (her) supervisor.

Don't stop till you get an answer.

Of course always respectful ( that is necessary)

I guarantee you will have an answer quickly if the C.O. Gets involved.

Thank you! I was notified of that on my FAFSA which will be good to get some extra cash. Anything helps. I'm a little worried that because of drill it may effect me during football season. I was recruited onto the team but my unit says the Marine Corps still takes priority which I understand but at the same time bugs me. I have to go up the chain of command and it will get reviewed by my CO. I have bi-weeks so hopefully i can work with them to re-schedule my days to the weekends I do not have those football games. Only one game I have to miss is on the Marine Corps Birthday!

Not sure if any other reserves on here go to college and play football if so let me know how your unit works with the schedules
