I wrote this for a friend in Baghdad, but it's for ALL our men and women in uniform. I wanted to share it here. I hope everyone likes it.
Upon the Sand
Upon the sand, our fighters go
To keep us safe and free.
They fight for peace, faith, and hope
For America and Thee.
Each bears the burden of war, Oh Lord
And each must bear it alone.
“How will my loved ones carry on?”
“What if I don’t come home?”
They needYou when the sand blows thick,
And when the battle rages most.
They need you when the loneliness prevails;
Protect them our Heavenly Host.
Sons, daughters, husbands, wives,
Please bring them home unscathed.
Each one, to us, is a precious life,
So here we sit and pray.
And one last thing we ask, oh Lord,
Will you hear us pray today??
Upon the sand, bestow your grace
So it’s not their final resting place.
