I think I agree but not sure anything would eliminate politics on these awards. This is a big brother type community. Most Active know plenty of retirees. Now how to solve it not really sure

I see young service people today with many ribbons and sorta wish I could have had a few but I maybe I got something better when I was in. Four years and a good conduct--nothing for keeping pencils sharp or doing my job--but we did get proficiency pay. I got $60 extra a month (P2 it was called) and that was a lot better than a ribbon in the late '50s and early '60s. In today's bucks, that's 372 extra a month. No one knew I got it but me and I didn't care.

I agree, it should be changed! But at the same time, I know what ever system they may come up with, would be worked around the same as others! Most medals do go to officers!!
