Marine dies in barracks fall

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — A Marine died Nov. 11 after apparently falling from the third floor of his barracks, according to base officials.
Lance Cpl. Nathan W. Finney, 21, of Okaloosa, Fla., was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m. at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido. His body was transported to Naval Medical Center San Diego for an autopsy.
Finney was a heavy equipment operator with 1st Transportation Support Battalion, 1st Force Service Support Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force. He joined the Marine Corps on March 11, 2002, and recently returned from Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating the incident.
