Who was President when you were in the Corps?
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt when I went in,
he died April April 12, 1945. Just 83 days after he had
taken office as president for the fourth time. I was on
Okinawa, and very happy to be alive.
Within four hours, Harry S Truman became the thirty-third
President of the Unitd States.

It was Carter when I went into boot camp, but when I reached my first duty station in Okinawa Ronald Reagan had just been elected President. I thought that I was in it then!
