So the other day I was coming out of Sams club with my wife and just outside the front door is a organization collecting money for Veterans called Verterans Support Organization or (VSO) so I threw them a few bucks and walked a way with one of there cards, and I notice one of the guys collecting had on a hat that said Vietnam Vet, and to me he seemed just a little young to have been in Vietnam. Well I could be wrong, but it just pecked my interest to check out this org. on-line. And it does not have the best reviews for all the money they collect not going to vets, you know the old story collecting millions and only thousands going the the Vets.
Their are many so called veterans non-profts out there just ripping off people who would like to help out our vets. Here is just one of the reports on (VSO) out of Florida a 10 News report I found. http://www.wtsp.com/news/article/227164/250/Are-mall-charity-collectors-just-professional-panhandlers (http://www.wtsp.com/news/article/227164/250/Are-mall-charity-collectors-just-professional-panhandlers)
And there are many others so-called Veterans groups out there that are just ripping off Vets, and making the good ones look bad.
here are just a few of the good ones.

Armed Services YMCA
Fisher House Foundation
Homes For Our Troops
Marine Semper Fi Fund
National Military Family Association
Operation Homefront

Use charity watchdog websites such as:

The Better Business Bureau's (http://www.give.org/)
Wise Giving Alliance
The Charity Navigator (http://www.charitynavigator.org/)
Givewell.org (http://www.givewell.org/)

to check out any charity before giving any money.

I don't give to any of those "military" organizations outside of Wal-Mart or other stores. I just tell them I give to military charities through my VFW post (which is true).

I know the charities Bruce59 listed are legit, but they are not the "charities" I see outside stores.
