I'm currently out in 29 Palms for my school as a 5974 Tactical Data Systems Administrator. I had taken this contract as a bit of a last second decision to get to MCRD quicker. It's a reserve contract, so I'm wondering what kind of civilian jobs this would transfer over to. Anyone have any experience with this?

*note: I'm considering finishing my degree and going the officer route too, but with the downsizing that's going on, I'm trying to keep my options open.

Check out NMCI. Everyone in the Navy and Marine Corps may hate you because we blame you for when any computer doesn't work, but I have had a few of their tech. reps tell me they were prior enlisted and I know one current reservist who works for them who is a 5900 series Reserve Marine.

Think of it this way, some people take up tens of thousands of dollars of debt to go through private training to be qualified like you are. Learn how to write a resume properly and this could get you some good paying side gigs while you are in school or full-time if you continue to just be a reservist.
