Having a beer for all of those who can not. Cheers to all my brothers (and sisters). Thank you for paving the way and for making the ultimate sacrifice - you are not forgotten.

If I can find a Marine Corps Ball that's "closest" to either Flagstaff or Winslow..
Yes, I will be attending.
If not then I will be honoring the Marine Corps Ball with Marine Brothers and Sisters with the cake, beer, wine, food, etc, etc...

This is my first Marine Corps Ball, and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm in the Cake Detail, so I'm pretty anxious to see what all it entails. Should be a good time. It is being held in Harrisburg. Been working on my Blues for about 3 weeks, wish I could get that belt to go together....

But I will be providing and hosting 2 separate Cake Cutting Ceremonies here at the Boeing Commercial Division Airplane Hanger in Renton Washington. There will be a cake for 1 Shift and another for 2nd Shift. We will allow the Youngest Marine present to serve the Oldest Marine Present and then the cake will be provided to Marines Veterans and then to all "other" Veterans.

Happy Veterans Day to All

and

Happy Marine Corps Birthday.

Won't be at a ball but I'll be at the best Marine Corps Birthday party in Atlanta at the Blue Ribbon Grill. It's run by radio personality Ludlow Porch, also a Marine.
It fills the place with all ranks--Pvt. to General--and ages. Even a few startled civilians.
We have a color guard and usually a general reading the commandant's message.
Also have some great hors d'oeuvres, the favorite being SOS with toast. Free!!!!
For anyone in Atlanta area, it's on Nov. 6 this year. Starts about 6

Every Marine should attend the ball. It's the only time of the year that some Marines get exposed to the history and traditions of the Marine Corps and we need that to keep the legacy of our Corps alive. You should also go to the ball to honor all those before you who have given you the right to be able continue to have a ball and future to celebrate.

:marine:Well stated Sgt Brown...I agree with you 100%...take this year's Poll...only 50 members took the time to cast a vote and it's almost 50/50...those attending and those that can't...that's appalling!!....again, Welcome Home,Marine...job well done in Iraq. Semper Fi:marine:

Finishing up on the details for our Ball now. Looks like we will have over 140. Not bad for an NROTC Unit.

Are any Marines in the DC/metro area? If so, I will be hosting a birthday celebration at my pub, Kirkpatricks on Nov 10th at 1700. All are invited to attend. It promises to be an exciting event!

Happy birthday MARINES!!!
Iwill be attending a MArine Corp Ball on Saturday Nov8th and then I Sunday I along with a few other Marines will be having a Marine Corp party for our fourth year in a row for those that do not like to attend formal dinners or busy. This party started with two Marines drinking and has grown to twenty plus. Thanks to this website I am able to do a semi formal ball with the reading of the Commandents message and cake cutting cermory to youngest and to the oldest Marine.

I'm happy as Hogan's Goat for all you Marines, that will attending a celebration big, small or modest...you carry on the tradition...the greatest time of my stateside liberties was in a tavern in south Philadelphia...many, many Marines referred to Cookie's Tavern as the 2nd "Tun Tavern"....Sgt Jimmy "Wags" Wagner, a WIA machine/gunner with the 3rd Marine Div FMF in the Vietnam War owned this duty station,...it held about 100 customers, it was dimly/lit with Marine runes all over the bulkards...he had a juke/box with Boston Pops recordings of the..."Marines' Hymn-Anchors Away-Semper Fidelis", etc...it was like a raucous R&R to be with "Wags" and the Marine gang..."Wags" passed away in 2002...he had the best duty station I've ever been to...my first hoist on 10Nov03 will be to...Sgt Jimmy Wagner-USMC...M-60 machine/gunner...3rd Marine Div FMF [Vietnam] Semper Fidelis SSGT CHRIS SARNO-USMC FMF:marine:

Actually attending three Marine Birthday festivities this year.

1. "Marine Barracks San Juan Capistrano" California . . . the 7th annual gathering of local Marines on Nov 5th . . . the oldest Marine was born in 1922 (attending in Dress Blues that fit!) and the youngest, born in 1982, a recent returnee from Iraq looking immaculate in Greens!

2. An all-service veterans dinner, honoring Marines, on Nov 7th in Laguna Hills, California.

3. The 4th annual Jar Head Jamboree sponsored by Orange County Deputy Sheriff's who are former Marines . . . this one on Nov 10th in Mission Viejo, California:marine:
