Does your ship date mean anything?

Does the ship date you get mean anything? Meaning, First team Delta, or Third Team Alpha...etc.

No it means its the day you start your training. But with that date you can figure out which batallion you are going to be a part of.

Never mind, I figured it out, it's a randomly long process to figure it out lol but I guess I'm going to be 2nd Battalion Golf Company

You can do it one of two ways. First you could ask our recruiter, thats the easiest way. Next you can figure out when your graduation date is and go on the MCRD PI website and find out who is graduating on that date they have the dates of all the platoons that are graduating.

That's what I did, except I got a little lucky, on the MCRD SD website, it had the ship dates too so it was a little easier.

So I went to my recruiter in December of '10 and went to MEPS. I had a problem with my vision (astigmatism) and needed a waiver which i submitted in February '11. I requested for August '11 but my recruiter still hasn't given me a ship date. Is this normal?

WOW that is exactly how i went down... I had to get a weaver for my eye I am 20/200 vision shot in the eye with a bottle rocket then went and dep'd in 20110204 and shipping 20110822 good luck man.
