How ya'll doin? My name is Pietro and I'm thinking of joining the Corps.

I do have some Obstacles to kill before I enlist though

I've always been a heavyset kid, However, at the same time I've always been a fairly active kid, to help with the image, I was once described by my gym teacher as an athlete in hidden in the body of a rundown tank (XD He meant no disrespect, but when you're running faster than a kid you have a good 100 pounds on... Ya know.)

I wanted to know if anyone had any training tips for me to prepare for the PT I would have to endure. First and foremost, my goal is to pass the IST, this requires me to become FIT enough to pass the damn thing, a challenge that I'll gladly demolish but have no idea how to go about doing so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Join a gym, workout, put one foot in front of the other and run, seek a trainer for assistance, play sports, don't eat so much, burn more calories than you consume, stay away from pogey-bait, ride a bike, walk, hike, exercise!!!

Yup. Find a good physical training person/specialist, get on a weight loss program, and start working out.

Simple answer but sometimes, those are the best answers.

Boullie, you have PM'd me twice now, the first time with a message that seemed to drip with sarcasm - at least could easily be read that way, and then this PM:
Where the whole thing with Amazon came from, I do not know, but I am not a troll. I am a 17 year old boy who is trying to enlist in the Marine Corps. All I want is just one opportunity to earn the Title. I came here looking for honest advice from people who know what they're talking about. I am not a troll. I just want the opportunity.

Let me tell you something. When you come onto this site, these men and women take time out of their day to answer people's questions. There are many who come onto this site as posers, trolls, what have you, and if there is a scintilla of evidence that demonstrates one is not genuine, I AM GOING TO CALL THEM ON IT.

I will take your word that you are genuine, but DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT even attempt to be sarcastic or lecture or chastise any of these former Marines and sailors! You say you want to be a Marine. Well...the first thing you can learn is how to be respectful in everything you say. You are not asking questions of privates who are green behind the ears. In any question asked, the answers posted represent years and years of service to this country.

Another thing: When you are responding to a post, you DO NOT NEED to PM the person with your response. If it is relevant to the subject, post it for everybody to see!

Lastly, your original question regarding physical fitness is asked in a vacuum. We do not know you; we do not know your capabilities; we have no way to assess what you can handle and you want a fitness plan!

Can you handle running 50 miles a week? How about 35? Probably not. It would be fruitless to send you a running plan that would blow you out of the water.

We have no idea what your fitness background is, sports, weightlifting, etc. You want me to send you a weightlifting plan? My weightlifting plan very well may break your back!

So nonspecific questions will receive nonspecific answers, such as the one I posted, and the one Sgt Lep echoed. And under the circumstances, that is the best we can do.

In addition, if you do some searching of this site, you will find a multitude of advice on this subject, including links to running plans and other fitness plans.

You asked a broad question, and the answers you received were pertinent to your question. If you have something more specific in mind, then be exact in your question.

Disregard the PM I posted. It was from a different poolee and meant for a different post, but the latter half of my post is applicable.

I'm past the point of knowing who is trolling or asking a legit question so I choose carefully now.
I figured I'd bump this hoping the OP is sincere.

Boullie: get the weight off....educate yourself on nutrition.
Do a search here as I and MOS4429 have chimed in frequently on these very same inquiries.
The discipline you must muster to get the fat off can be compared to the discipline and fortitude you must have to succeed in boot camp and earn
The Title.

Carry on....

Sarcasm? I gave simple responses hoping not to step on any toes.

Every message I send, everything I post is sincere.

My word is my promise, I was hoping to get some extra information on nutrition and exercise from Marines that have gone through everything I haven't.

I'm sorry if any of my messages seemed Trolly, That wasn't my intention.

As for the first PM, I was only relieved that someone took me seriously rather than just Loling at me or telling me to join the Army. Those who did post those messages? I respect your opinions and I felt as though I responded with respect.

For everyone who reached out and tried to help Chulaivet and MOS4429, I appreciate the answers.

No sarcasm.

I think the point is,,,,,,,, You can do it if you really want. Do you really want?

Don't tell me,,,,, Convince yourself.

As always, I've got a lot to think about. But I'm going to tackle this journey to get fit and see what I want to do in the end.

99.9% Mental.
0.1% Physical.

Tell yourself your going to do it and you've already accomplished half the mission.

Will do sir.

You all have given me a lot to think about.

As I said previously, the Corps is an idea (A strong one) within my mind, I will think more as I embark on the journey to become fit so as not to waste the resources and time of the Corps.

Thank you all for your words.
