Asvab Score for officer???

do you have to get a 74 percentile to be qualified for an officer?? i finished 2 years of college(bachelor degree), and going to be a junior this fall. My ship date is sometimes in May 2012 for enlisted. If possible i'm thinking of becoming an officer.... so i could fly an aircraft (childhood dream).

Officers don't take the asvab. The only time you'll see an officer with an asvab score is if they were prior enlisted or possibly (I'm not positive on this one) if they took it if they were looking at enlisting and it got ran.

thank you for the replies. Also my recruiter said 1000 on the SAT (verbal + math) but the website only said 1000 on the SAT ( is that all verbal + math + writing)

I thought the ASVAP score for Marines was counted as a GCT
Do we just count in in percents now?

The 74 qualifying score on the ASVAB is only in the event that you are applying for a NROTC Scholarship.

A 1000 or higher is required on the SAT. That 1000 figure is Math and Verbal only. If you did not take the SAT, but the ACT instead, you need a composite score of 24 or higher.

If you did not take either test, you may take the ASVAB and you will have to score 74 or higher. However, in my limited experience at an OSO's office, ASVAB guys were hard to process.

my advice to you is go reserves.. finish college as a reservist and use ur gi bill and then commission after... that way you have prior service experience when you commission and you get to go to boot and ocs.. and as far as i know.. if you have enlisted time as an officer you can pick up 1st LT and Cpt a lot faster than those with just college.. and you will be a Marine so you can still think about commissioning with out having the urge just to jump..

Officer promotions are the same regardless of whether one was prior enlisted or not.
