So I've posted on here a couple times about trying to get back into the Corps. I initially wanted to go back active, but after some serious talk with a PSR I decided going reserves first was a better idea, then try to augment to active later. I've been off contract since 2007, so like he said, it will give me a chance to get my PFT scores and rifle scores etc. all up to date and get back in the swing of things in general. My initial MOS was combat engineer for my 4 active years, but I'm almost done with my associates degree in networking and the reserve unit had 2 openings for E-4's as 0651, Data Network Specialist, so it seemed like a natural fit. Anybody have any tips, hints, or suggestions about this MOS or about differences between reserves and active? Or differences between 2003 Marine Corps vs 2011 Marine Corps? Finally, anybody have any advice about augmenting to active after I do 2-4 years in the reserves?
