Hello everyone!,
Well I have a question thats been bothering me for a week or so know ever

sense I went to the San Diego county fair and I was wondering if a couple

Marines could help me out. Well the story is while I was at the fair with my

girlfriend and her grandmother a man had come up to me and said you want to

be a "bullet stopper" huh. So I Replied "excuse me sir?". Before he answered

back my girlfriends grandmother had said this is Mac he was in the Marine

Corps for 22 years and I thought It would be nice for him to talk to you so

you dont make the wrong decision. He than said "you wanna be a bullet

stopper huh?" I said "what do you mean by that sir" he said "you gonna be a

grunt well I heard that you graduated with a 3.0" and he continued to

say"What did you get on you S.A.T". Figuring he ment ASVAB I said"I scored a

44" He said"44?! you need to retake that test so you can be qualified for

another job.I said"Thats the job I wanted sir" he said"why would you want to

be a dirty grunt" I "said well sir... I wanted to follow in my Family's foot steps

and serve in the infantry for four years than continue on in the Corps with

what job I wanted next" he said "well you need to retake that score and not

become a bullet stopper cause thats all your going to be. im not trying to be

a dick but I did 22 years in the Corps i got a 115 on my ASVAB(that was a red

flag for me right there. but I let him continue) I was an at helicopter mechanic

and you know what I would say to a little Private when I saw his asvab

scores if I was in the infantry I would make him my ***** and let the smarter

guys go fight" that right there really bothered but because im not a Marine I

didn't want to call the guy out because it wasn't my place and the

grandmother told me that she knew him when he was "deployed" but im not

sure if she ever saw him in uniform or anything. Also another thing that really

bothered me is he said he was Gunny Mac when he retired he never once

called himself by his last name and he always talked about how the Corps

sucked and it was the worst decision he ever made in his life and all this BS

that i didn't even want to hear...honestly i just need a few of you Marines to

help me figure out if this guy is real or not please its been really bothering me

im not even a Marine yet and there is one thing i can't stand in the whole

entire universe is a Liar specially when hes lying about Being in the Marine

Corps... Also I would like to add that he kept tellling me I had to go to MCT

after bootcamp I said "no sir infantry goes to ITB" and the guy had no clue

were MCT or ITB was I argued with him for about 5 mins that grunts go to ITB

not MCT. Also he told me "when i left Iraq 2 years ago it was 130 degrees you

really wanna go live in that *hit hole and be a "bullet stopper"

Any help would be apprecaited i would just like to hear your opinions on this matter
Sorry for the double spacing I figured it would be easier on the eyes that way.
God bless,

CHAD YOU WOULD GO TO MCT THEN SOI,(school of infantry) which is either in lejuene or pendleton. the other is army.
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR CAREER

Usually, when I hear someone referring to an infantryman as a "bulletstopper," he's Army. Reason: The Army MOS for a rifleman is 11B and they jokingly call themselves "11 bulletstoppers."

I rarely ever heard of a Marine calling a grunt a "bulletstopper."

I was active for 6 years and inactive for 6 and have personally known about 100k Marines. I have never heard the term bullet stopper before this thread. If this gent is truly a person give him my name have him friend me on Facebook and I will straighten him out for you. I wish I had my choice of MOS"s and became a 0400 but my daddy dearest intervened.

This guy sounds like a disgruntled idiot to me. And..I've deleted that thread mentioned earlier. Quite frankly, if you want to bash the Corps, I feel like you can do that elsewhere.

Again...an idiot. Might very well be a poser too.

Like previously stated just an bitter Marine or poser. Doesnt truly matter for you. Ive heard the term bulletsponge before but dont let it get to you. His 115 was most likely his GT score and not the AFQT which Im sure was your 44. Not all grunts are "stupid" dont even buy thatfrom anyone. If he hated the Corps so much why did he serve 22 years thats talking about about 5 different reenlistments. Grunts get dirty true. It is their job to be the boots on the ground, yet other MOSs sometimes must do the same. I was told I was going to work with computers and sattelites, and I was picked out to be a radio operator in an infantry unit attached to a line company doing what I can to be as knowledgable as the 03s. Does that make me bitter? No I do what is necessary because it wont be about you out there. Yes you go to SOI and not MCT. MCT is for POGs like me 29 training days and out. You will go way more in depth than what we did. Best advice I can give is tough chin. Ignore the low blows and just say rgr that I'll think about it evenif in the back of your head you doubt or want to tell him to F himself. Its called bearing and tact. Best of luck to you. Oh one last thing the Corps doesnt suck. The Corps is exactly what you make of it.

I think he was a dumba$$ if the USMC was the worse job he ever had and he kept reenlisting for 22 years worth of it! Something wrong with that picture.

I stayed in for 22.6 years because I liked it not cause I hated it...what a concept!

My niece has been a poolee for almost a couple months now and fortunately has never had an experience like this (so far). Somehow, I have the feeling, she is not going to be as tactful as you were in handling the situation...she will likely go off on the individual and they won't know what hit them!!! Wish I could be there to see it.

And thank you Sgt Lep for taking out the trash:yes:
